The Wales, 1295 Madison Avenue, New York, NY

The Wales, located at 1295 Madison Avenue, New York, NY 10128, is a historic building recently retrofitted and installed eFlow-Constant Airflow Regulators. Originally completed in 1902, the retrofit was completed in 2023, transforming this landmark into a premier residential address.

Project Background

Situated in Carnegie Hill, The Wales has been a prominent feature of the Upper East Side for over a century. The building, once a charming hotel, now offers luxury living with two- to four-bedroom condominiums designed by Cabinet Alberto Pinto. This project preserves the historic elegance while providing modern amenities.

Project Details

The retrofit of The Wales included transforming the 11-story building into 20 luxury condominiums. The highlight of the project is a five-bedroom penthouse with an elegant terrace overlooking the reservoir. The Wales is 70% sold, emphasizing its desirability and the successful integration of classic design with contemporary living standards.

Stakeholders and Roles

The retrofit was executed with the expertise of various stakeholders. The eFlow products, specifically custom CAR Fire Damper assemblies, were supplied  directly to Power Air Conditioning Corp. These installations are crucial in ensuring the safety and efficiency of the building’s ventilation systems.

Technical Insights

The installation of eFlow Constant Airflow Regulators (CARs) in custom fire damper assemblies enhances both safety and air quality. These regulators ensure consistent airflow, improving indoor air quality, and reducing energy consumption, while also providing crucial fire safety measures.

Benefits of Installing Constant Airflow Regulators

  • Improved Indoor Air Quality: Maintains a steady flow of fresh air.
  • Energy Efficiency: Reduces heating and cooling costs.
  • Enhanced Fire Safety: Ensures proper ventilation in case of fire.

Conclusion

The Wales stands as a testament to the successful blending of historical architecture with modern luxury. This retrofit project not only revitalizes a historic landmark but also sets a new standard for luxury living on the Upper East Side.
